The Assistant Teacher has the primary responsibility for general support to the Lead Teacher and clearly supports and promotes the ongoing goals and philosophy of Awesome Kids Preschool.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with young children, and able to meet the requirements of the state licensing agency.
  • Exemplify a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and in general agreement with the doctrinal and biblical position of Christ Community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with children and parents.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Show the love of Jesus to the children and families.
  • See that the children receive as much time as possible on a one to one basis and listen attentively to them and know them by name.
  • Use positive reinforcement as much as possible.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert for the needs and/or programs of the children as a group.
  • Report any observation of value, special need or problem to the lead teacher and/or director. 
  • Maintain confidentiality.

  • Assist in discipline as directed by the lead teacher and be familiar with concepts of “Love and Logic and Conscious Discipline.”

SUMMARY STATEMENT

The Pastoral Residency at Christ Community Church is a two-year mentoring program designed to train and equip church leaders of tomorrow. Christ Community seeks to provide aspiring church leaders a healthy church environment to learn, grow, and practice ministry after completing their seminary degree.

The Pastoral Resident serves as a pastoral apprentice-in-residence in a two-year mentoring residency, puts ministry into practice while learning from pastoral mentors not only through explicit instruction but also through observation and modeling, and seeks to further the mission of Christ Community Church.

Primary Responsibilities may include:
  • Lead in worship through Scripture readings, prayers, and greetings
  • Write public prayers or responsive readings for use in corporate worship
  • Participate in critique of sermon writing and delivery in worship planning meetings
  • Prepare for and engage in weekly teaching team meetings 
  • Preach in worship services as assigned
  • Teach in small classes, such as the Women’s Ministries Bible studies, Men’s Ministries, Student Ministries, Young Adults, or Family and Care
  • Participate in care visits

Currently we have several open full-time or part-time positions. We are focused on identifying and evaluating candidates based on specific skill sets, competencies, and experiences relevant to the needs of the church and team. Skills-based hiring involves assessing candidates based on proficiency in various communication-related skills necessary for effectively managing communications projects across our multisite church environment. As part of the communications team, our focus is on visual communications. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide oversight and leadership to all aspects of Children’s Ministries
  • Teach the Bible with clarity, creativity, and conviction in age appropriate ways
  • Shepherd children, parents, and families to actively engage in their faith journey
  • Work with various campus teams to develop and implement programs, events, or opportunities for children which offer intergenerational opportunities for children and their families
  • Create and develop pathways to disciple, train, equip, and empower parents to be the primary spiritual leaders of the children in their home
  • Create an atmosphere and ethos in Children’s Ministries which is contagious, infectious, and leads to opportunities for discipleship and spiritual formation
  • Recruit, train, equip and develop Children’s Ministries volunteers to be shepherds of the children and/or families within the ministry

As a member of the Christ Community Pastoral Team:

  • Support and promote the mission, constitution and bylaws of Christ Community
  • Hold true to the theology and beliefs outlined in the EFCA Statement of Faith
  • Participate in staff prayer and planning meetings
  • Be accountable in the use of time and diligent in carrying out established administrative processes 
  • Be accountable to the financial parameters established in the annual budget process
  • Seek, over time, licensing (credentialing) with the Evangelical Free Church of America
  • Successfully complete the adult formation training program of the church (Church for Monday)

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Undergraduate degree preferred (education or ministry related degree) 
    • Children’s ministries or child development experience (five years preferred)

        • Cultivate a heart of service (inside and outside of the church) in students and families
        • Lead and develop part-time paid student ministry staff as well as key volunteer leaders who are giving leadership and oversight to various parts of the ministry

        • Care for children while their parents/guardians are participating in various ministries:
          • Pay friendly attention to each child
          • Talk in pleasant tones

          • Encourage and praise children’s efforts

        RESPONSIBILITIES

        • Deliver Bible lessons as scheduled by the coordinator
        • Communicate classroom needs to coordinator to ensure adequate supplies, resources, and equipment 
        • Arrive at the requested time each day

        • Follow all classroom guidelines as stated in the Child Protection Policy to guarantee that Christ Community’s established standard for child care is maintained

        • Attend required teacher orientation/child protection training annually
