Registration for The Saint John’s Bible Special Events

July 7 @ 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

You are invited to The Four Chapter Gallery in August for two special events with Tim Ternes, the Director of the Saint John’s Bible at the Hill Museum & Manuscript Library at Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota.

In his role as director, Ternes worked closely with the artistic team during the creation of this hand-written, hand-illuminated Bible serving as facilitator between artist and commissioner. This collaboration has given him extensive behind-the-scenes knowledge and great stories about all aspects of The Saint John’s Bible project.

He now serves as curator for the Bible Project and manages exhibitions, programming, and caring for the original pages of the manuscript. In short, Tim Ternes is the keeper of the pages and the keeper of the story.

Registration is required for each of these events.

Tuesday, August 8 | 6:30-8:00 PM | From Inspiration to Illumination;

An Introduction to The Saint John’s Bible

Through video, reproductions and rich visual images, participants are guided through the story of The Saint John’s Bible. Guests will learn about the processes, tools, methods and materials behind the making of The Saint John’s Bible, as well as explore several artworks through guided imagery discussions. Participants will have the opportunity to handle vellum samples and a quill, and see large reproductions of an entire volume after the presentation. Register here.

Wednesday, August 9 | 9:00 AM-4:00 PM | Retreat Day with The Saint John’s Bible

 Ignite your spiritual imagination by immersing yourself into the art and inspiration of The Saint John’s Bible. The day begins with the fascinating story of the creation of The Saint John’s Bible and unpacks several of the project’s stunning illuminations through group conversations. Visio Divina, or sacred seeing, will fill the afternoon as participants delve more deeply into a single passage of the Bible with a unique and reflective visual Bible study experience. Noon and closing prayer services and time to explore the gallery will enrich the day. Lunch is provided. Register here.
