Student Ministries Dominican Republic Trip
June 19 @ 12:00 am - 11:59 pm

Who: High school students from Christ Community + adult leaders
When: June 17-24, 2023
Where: Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
This missions trip to Santo Domingo is June 17-24, 2023 and is in conjunction with Apex, the student missions program for the Evangelical Free Church of America . Santo Domingo is the capital of the Dominican Republic and one of the Caribbean’s oldest cities.
The summer mission trip is for high school students who not only want to use their summer to serve, but also want to get the full missions experience by participating in a vibrant ministry with long-term workers.
WHO IS APEX?
Apex exists to serve the local church by helping them mobilize the next generation of gospel influencers to take the gospel from here to everywhere. It is done by offering students—the most sendable and teachable part of our society—bite-sized missions opportunities. Students will be challenged by needs outside their bubble, equipped by long-term laborers, and impacted by the power of the gospel through a different cultural lens.
The students join long-term workers to gain experience as they learn from the city, strangers, workers, and each other.
OVERVIEW OF THE WEEK
The Santo Domingo City team is focused on discipleship, helping Christian university students reach their peers with the gospel and integrating them in house churches that are being planted throughout the city.
Young people from the US will serve side by side with young people from the Dominican Republic, encouraging them as followers of Jesus, or in outreach among high school students or ministry with kids through the partner churches.
Helping with conversational English will be a great way for Christ Community students to interact with Dominican students who study English, and must pass English exams to enter the university.
Other ministry areas are VBS/Bible clubs, camps, and small Bible studies.
COST
The cost of the trip per person will be about $2,000, which includes training meetings, roundtrip airfare, transportation on the island, room accommodations, meals, and so forth. Students must send out letters to form a support team that will support each of them in prayer, and if needed, financially.
