A Lead Teacher at Awesome Kids Preschool loves children and has a heart for teaching children about Jesus. They have a CDA, AA or BA in Early Childhood Education or have previous experience at an early childhood center. They are excited to craft a daily curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and engages learning through play. A lead teacher is a good communicator with families and works collaboratively with the Awesome Kids Preschool staff and Assistant Teacher.

REPORTS TO: Director of Awesome Kids Preschool
STATUS: Part Time

The Assistant Teacher has the primary responsibility for general support to the Lead Teacher and clearly supports and promotes the ongoing goals and philosophy of Awesome Kids Preschool.


  • Hold a CDA, AA or BA in Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education, or previous experience in an early childhood center.
  • Experience working with young children, and able to meet the requirements of the state licensing agency.
  • Exemplify a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and in general agreement with the doctrinal and biblical position of Christ Community.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with children and parents.


  • Show the love of Jesus to the children and families.
  • See that the children receive as much time as possible on a one to one basis and listen attentively to them and know them by name.
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert for the needs and/or programs of the children as a group.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow Awesome Kids Preschool policies and philosophies.
  • Handle discipline promptly and in accordance with stated policy on discipline.
  • Plan curriculum (Academic and Bible) in detail with developmentally appropriate activities for assigned classes.  Write and post lesson plans
  • Implement the daily program with the help of an assistant teacher.
  • Delegate responsibility to assistant teachers and volunteers when appropriate.
  • Maintain compliance with the state of Kansas Child Care Regulations.
