Guiding Principles

As we evaluated our needs and the best way to address them, we have kept three guiding principles in front of us:

 

  1. We have a heart to reach the entire Kansas City Metro area.
  2. We are better together as one church in multiple locations.
  3. Each campus has unique needs as we REACH KC.

Why Now?

Shawnee Campus

  • The Shawnee Campus is experiencing significant growth, with Sunday services consistently full, including four services on Easter 2025.
  • This growth has led to a space shortage, with only one area available for Adult or Student Ministries gatherings on Sunday mornings.
  • Many Children’s Ministries classrooms are reaching capacity on Sundays.
  • The original design allows for doubling the space at a reasonable cost and a relatively fast timeline.

What's Next?

Leawood Campus

  • The existing multipurpose space was never intended to be a permanent Worship Center.
  • Leawood has been giving itself away since 1989.
  • The church is called to create a place to share God’s beauty with the community, and it is time for a dedicated Worship Center for this campus.
  • This expansion will serve to address current and future growth and will be catalytic in reaching new people for Christ.

Brookside Campus

  • The Brookside Campus has limited space for Adult and Student Ministries gatherings on Sunday mornings and Children’s Ministries classrooms are regularly at capacity.
  • Parking remains a significant, persistent issue that challenges accessibility of the campus.
  • Exploration of opportunities and strategies to best address the needs of the Brookside Campus are in process.
